At NOVA Mapo, we believe that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality. That’s why we are committed to upholding and promoting human rights in everything we do. Here’s how we’re making a difference:
Supporting Human Rights Foundations: We actively contribute to organizations and foundations dedicated to protecting and promoting human rights around the world. Some of the foundations we support include:
Amnesty International: We partner with Amnesty International to advocate for human rights, raise awareness about key issues, and support their campaigns to end injustice and oppression.
Human Rights Watch: We stand with Human Rights Watch in their mission to investigate and expose human rights abuses, hold perpetrators accountable, and defend the rights of individuals worldwide.
International Rescue Committee: We support the International Rescue Committee in their efforts to provide lifesaving aid and assistance to refugees and displaced persons, ensuring their rights and dignity are upheld.
ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union): We contribute to the ACLU’s work to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.
UNICEF: We partner with UNICEF to protect and promote the rights of children around the world, ensuring they have access to education, healthcare, and protection from violence and exploitation.
In addition to supporting these organizations, we also have internal policies and practices in place to ensure that human rights are respected and upheld throughout our operations. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where all individuals are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
Through our collective efforts, we strive to create a world where human rights are universally recognized, respected, and protected for all.
Join us in our commitment to human rights. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for generations to come.
Aligned with the Universal Declaration for Human Rights and the International Labour Organizations (ILO) Core Conventions and Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, we are committed to protecting human rights throughout our operations. We align with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct as best practice for understanding and managing our human rights risks. If adverse human rights impacts arise, we focus on mitigating and remediating.
Our approach begins with our Human Rights Commitment. Internally, we develop practices and policies to help our employees thrive in the workplace. We are also implementing a Diversity and Inclusion Strategy to support an inclusive workplace and product from diverse suppliers.
Our Partner Code of Conduct and supporting policies lay the foundation for our supplier expectations. NOVA Mapo seeks to partner with businesses that share our commitment to producing quality products through ethical business practices, and our partners throughout our value chain are required to adhere to these standards and commitments.
When it comes to the people who manufacture NOVA Mapo Made products, we partner with factories around the world to create safe and healthy work environments for all the workers who produce our products. Learn more about NOVA Mapo’s responsible sourcing program.
Human Rights Due Diligence
As part of our commitment to human rights, we have integrated due diligence processes into our policies and procedures. In 2022, we worked with experts to implement a comprehensive process involving both internal and external stakeholders to identify salient human rights risks across our operations. We launched two impact assessments, a corporate human rights impact assessment and a forced labor impact assessment, to better understand our risks. These assessments help us to target effective policies and management processes to protect people and communities across NOVA Mapo operations.
These assessments examined impacts across our operations, including risks in our own operations, to our customers and communities, and across our supply chain. The assessments identified nine salient human rights risks, focused on our supply chain. Our salient issues form the basis for our ongoing risk analysis across our business and inform how we strengthen policies and procedures for strengthened protection.
Salient risks
- Forced labor
- Child labor
- Discrimination
- Social Security
- Conditions of work
- Working hours
- Right to a healthy environment
- Right to form or join trade unions
- Wages
As we work to advance respect for all rights, we place special emphasis on these salient issues, and we prioritize actions that reach the most vulnerable people. As we seek to understand the nature and extent of other human rights risks in our supply chains, we are collaborating with others who share our principles, and we are investing in joint efforts to accomplish our shared goals.
